Girl’s bus stop scare
Date published: 08 February 2010
A WARNING has been issued after a man made inappropriate comments to a 16-year-old girl waiting at a bus stop.
The girl was waiting alone at the stop in Huddersfield Road, Scouthead, at 8am on Friday for a bus heading into Oldham when the man approached.
He made vulgar comments and told her to follow him to a silver Transit van parked in Lower Turf Lane.
Luckily, her mother spotted him from their home in Huddersfield Road, followed him to his vehicle, copied down his number plate and reported it to the police.
The family believe he is the same person who exposed himself to the girl two years ago at the same spot.
The mother said: “It’s disgusting and makes me feel sick.
“I noticed him because he was looking shifty, walking backwards and forwards.”
The man is described as white, of slim build, aged about 40, with short dark hair and stubble on his face.
He was wearing a blue and red Adidas top, black work trousers, black boots and a grey wool hat.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said the complaint had been logged and officers would be visiting a man whose name and address was registered to the vehicle.
