Getting stuck in to healthy treats

RECIPE for health . . . Miriam Bonworth and Daniel Hughes test their culinary skills
LITTLE chefs teamed up with pensioners in Royton and Shaw to learn about healthy eating.
A number of primary schools in the area, including Buckstones and Beal Vale, paired up in a bid to get to know each other better. The youngsters also invited pensioners who use local Age Concern services to come along and get involved.
The programme was designed to encourage youngsters to think about the food they eat as well as allowing them to mix with different types of people.
The group planned recipes and learned what combinations of foods were the healthiest before trying out their skills in the kitchen. Fruit kebabs, pasta and pitta breads were just some of the treats made.
