Foot doctors to pound the streets for charity

READY FOR THE OFF: Enjoying a training session are Sarah Hopkinson (left), Laura Kelly, Khadijah Nazir, Debbie Willsea, Jenna Tilbury, Carys Boyle, Danielle Meadows and Paula Yates.
A GROUP of foot doctors based at the Royal Oldham Hospital will be putting their best feet forward to raise money for Sport Relief.
And after the team of eight pound the streets of Manchester — including Coronation Street’s cobbles — they’ll be well placed to treat all their blisters.
They all look after the feet of patients at the Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust in Oldham, Rochdale, Bury and north Manchester, and are taking part in the Sport Relief Mile runs on March 21.
To raise money for poor and vulnerable people in the UK and some of the world’s poorest countries, they will be running three miles around Manchester City Centre.
For the first time this year the course takes in the Rover’s Return, Dev’s corner shop, the Underworld factory and Ken and Deidre’s front door as it crosses in the Coronation Street set at Granada studios.
Oldham-based organiser Khadijah Nazir (22) said: “I have done Sport Relief before and I am used to running and so is one of my colleagues, but the rest are just getting into training.
“At least when we have finished we will be able to treat each other’s blisters!”
