Jail for four in robbery plot

FOUR men who spent weeks plotting to steal from cash delivery vans, including a delivery to Morrison’s, Failsworth, in June last year, have been jailed.
The men, from Blackley, north Manchester, were being watched by officers as they scrutinised 14 cash deliveries at supermarkets, banks and businesses or watched cash machines between June 15 and July 6 .
On June 29, the gang of four took a stolen Seat Leon with false number plates to Morrisons, Poplar Street, Failsworth, to commit a robbery as cash was being delivered to the store.
They fled the store empty-handed after failing to get into the cash office.
The four were jailed at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square, on Monday.
Callum McManus (21) of Sandybrook Drive, was jailed for five years four months.
Kevin Taaffe (32) of Shakleton Avenue, and Dale Hall (25) of Booth Hall Road, were each jailed for four years eight months.
Nicholas Fox (20) of Charlestown Road, was sentenced to four years imprisonment.
They had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery following an earlier hearing.
A fifth man, Lee Whitely (20) of Moston Lane East, Moston, pleaded guilty to handling a stolen vehicle at an earlier hearing. He was jailed for four months.
