YOUNG engineeer David Bickerstaffe has took a step closer to his dream career.
The 17-year-old, from Owler Lane, Chadderton, has been offered a place at Trinity College, Oxford, to study engineering with the hope of working on the design of the internal combustion engine.
David, a pupil at Manchester Grammar School, needs to get top grades in mathematics, further mathematics and physics when he sits his A-levels next year.
But David is no stranger to scoring top marks having gained eight A stars for his GCSEs, including a 100 per cent mark in Italian after taking the full course in just eight months.
Dr Christopher Ray, the high master of The Manchester Grammar School, said: “I am particularly delighted our boys have done so well in what has been an extremely competitive year with huge rises in the number of students applying for places at competitive universities.
“David has made a great impact at MGS and I am sure he has a bright future.”
David is one 35 successful Oxbridge applicants from MGS this year.
