Charity concert raises £2,300

FUND-RAISERS for the British Heart Foundation raised over £2,300 from a charity concert.

The event, held at the Home Guard Club, Poplar Street, Failsworth, was organised by Failsworth business man and singer Trevor McEwan.

He was helped by his mother, Margaret McEwan, a BHF volunteer, and by family and friends.

The pair started fund-raising following the death of Margaret’s husband, David, in 2007 from a heart attack. By the end of 2009, the pair had raised over £5,000 for the charity.

Mrs McEwan, from Chadderton, who works for the BHF at the Royal Oldham, said: “February is BHF month and we are trying to raise awareness to the disease and also collect as much money as possible to help support the work of the Heart Foundation.

“The charity concert was a sell out, with a great crowd, a fantastic raffle and auction prizes.

“We owe a lot to the people who supported us and the businesses who gave generously.”
