Girls trapped in van
Date published: 22 February 2010
THREE teenage girls had to be rescued by firefighters when they found themselves trapped in the back of a Transit van on Saturday night.
Two 15-year-olds and one 18-year-old, from Shaw, had been riding around in the van with a friend.
But the driver abandoned the vehicle when pursued by police in Rochdale Road, High Crompton, at about 10.40pm.
The girls used a mobile phone to call firefighters. Crews from Chadderton used an electric saw to gain access.
A fire officer said: “The girls were freezing cold and shaken but not injured.”
