Bryn, the “bionic” mountain rescue dog, is being feted a hero after leading searchers to a missing pensioner.
Dog handler Steve Ward of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team, found the 75-year-old man semiconscious when he had slipped into a gully on a Yorkshire golf course.
The man had been missing for more than 10 hours after telling his wife he was going for a newspaper.
The dog suffered severe injuries last year when it snapped ligaments after falling into a hole. It cost more than £3,000 to carry out restorative medical treatment spread over nine months to see the plucky dog fully restored.
Steve added: “The man was very cold and was slipping into unconsciousness. But the rescue team rushed him to hospital and I am glad to report he’s on his way to recovery.
