Major work on renewing a gas main in Oldham town centre should be finished next week.

National Grid is renewing old cast iron pipes with 140 metres of modern plastic piping in High Street between Lord Street and Market Place.

The work is an investment of £130,000 and National Grid says is should secure the supply for the future.

A spokesman added: “We thank local people for their co-operation, especially the council which has given us invaluable assistance.”
