Woodend artists in TV spotlight
Date published: 26 February 2010
THE 19th century Woodend Mill in Mossley is to star in a BBC documentary next month describing how old cotton factories are becoming artists’ studios.
The mill and its users will feature as part of the BBC’s “Inside Out” series.
The March 1 edition tells how when the cotton industry declined, many mills simply fell into decay, but are now part of a creative revolution.
Reporter Jacey Normand looks at how art is keeping historic old mills alive.
A BBC film crew spent a day exploring Woodend Mill, interviewing artists and filming in their studios.
The documentary will be shown on BBC One at 7.30pm and gives viewers across the region a glimpse into the hidden world of artists working in unique surroundings.
Following the documentary, Woodend Artists are offering members of the public the chance to explore the mill and meet the artists in person at their annual Arts March open studio event on March 27 and 28.
