THERE will be new lights in old windows after Springhead Community Association secured a grant to replace all the glazing at their community centre.
The group is celebrating success after getting funding worth £14,500 for the Ashes Lane centre through the South Pennines Rural Development Programme for England, which is jointly funded by Defra and the European Union.
Association chairman Bob Hoath said: “Not only will this benefit all of the users of the community centre, but by using local contractors we are bringing much needed work into the area.
“Over a two-year period we will have invested over £40,000 and I am sure there is more to come.”
