Guides celebrate centenary year
Date published: 04 March 2010
Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and their leaders from Shaw danced to the beat when they celebrated their centenary at Crompton House School.
The theme of “One World, One Beat” was repeated at events up and down the country as the Guide movement celebrates being 100-years-old this year.
The 150 girls and their leaders took part in five workshops of African drumming, African dancing, street dancing, singing campfire songs from around the world, and crafts representing Italy, China, Hawaii and India. The Indian craft was henna hand painting done by four pupil volunteers from Hathershaw School. The event ended with a showcase demonstration to an audience of parents and friends.
