FAILSWORTH School has been honoured for using sport as one of the ways to drive up achievement.
It was handed a National Innovations Award by the Youth Sport Trust at the Annual Sports College Conference.
The award is in recognition of the work the school does “embedding the specialism to ‘narrow the gap’ in whole school attainment.”
The school is a nationally-respected Sports College and headteacher John Meagher said: “The school continues to use sport to drive whole school achievement not just in the PE department, but also across the school, and understands the difference sport can make to young people’s lives.
“It is testament to all staff and pupils that the school has won such a prestigious national award.”
