Future stars put through their paces
MEDAL winners of the future faced new sporting challenges when they took part in the borough’s second Gold Factor Day.
Teenagers identified by their schools as potential sports stars were put to the test in a range of new activities at Failsworth Sports Centre.
Year Eight youngsters from secondary schools across Oldham tried out indoor rowing and cycling, handball and a sports psychology session.
Organisers will now be comparing results and holding a prize giving for outstanding athletes.
The event was organised by Fails-worth School Sport Partnership, Sports Development, Oldham Athletic Community Trust and Oldham Community Leisure.
Vicky Dean, Partnership Develop-ment manager for Failsworth School Sport Partnership, said: “The feedback from the session was really good.
“Some of the teenagers were even going to ask their schools to take up some of the sporting activities they tried.”
