A hundred years of swimming at Royton pool were celebrated with drinks and a cake this week.
The Mayor, Councillor Jim McArdle, and Oldham’s Youth Mayor, Mohammed Adil joined staff at the pool in centenary celebrations.
John Carhart took pride of place at the party when he helped the Mayor cut the cake. John is one of the longest-serving employees at Royton pool, where he has worked for 19 years.
He works as recreational assistant at the pool, and also works as sauna manager at Oldham Sports Centre.
