Magnificent seven bands in charity concert

Date published: 17 March 2010

MUSIC-LOVERS can tune in to the sounds of seven bands on Sunday, all in a good cause.

The Moss Inn, Heyside, hosts a fundraising gig with music to suit all tastes.

Produced by Oldham Music Centre students Stephen Shaw and Martin Ashurst, it aims to appeal to all with a wide-ranging line-up and music from acoustic and rock to originals and covers.

The seven bands have donated their time to raise money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Royton.

They are Jerzey St Band, Chuck Farthing, Mancunian Way, Lenahan, The Kissing Gate, Trio and Kirk McElhinney.

There will be raffles and auctions for items including a signed Manchester United pennant, a tour of Manchester City’s stadium and museum for two, a signed Latics shirt, and signed Henry Cooper v Ali photograph and a signed Dennis Law montage.

The gig starts at 5pm, tickets from the Moss Inn, on 0791 728 3191, or on the door if there are any left. Volunteers to help on the day are also sought. More information on Facebook, search for “A Hard Days Night” or at www.myspace.com/519439084

The event is sponsored by Oldham Music Centre, Q-Print, and John and Joanne at the Moss Inn.
