On the run for Sport Relief

ENERGETIC fundraisers are proving that they are willing to go the extra mile for charity.
These are just some of the people who have been pounding the pavements, making a splash or doing anything they can think of to complete the Sport Relief Mile.
An impressive 240 pupils from Broadfield Primary School, Hathershaw, completed the distance with a run around Alexandra Park, while Radclyffe pupils got in to gear at their school’s athletic track in Chadderton.
The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Jim McArdle, got staff under starter’s orders at Sainsbury’s in Oldham.
They were joined by Chaddy the Owl and the supermarket’s chief executive, Justin King, who is running 32 miles over four days at stores across the country.
And it was an early start for 30 youngsters from St Joseph’s Primary, Shaw, who decided to get their feet wet for their effort.
They clocked-on at 7am for a mile-long swim covering 70 lengths at Crompton Pool.
The Sport Relief TV fundraiser is on BBC1 tonight, while across the country people will be holding a range of events to raise money for poor and vulnerable people at home and abroad.
