Schools sing up for charity

Primary school pupils from across Shaw and Royton will be in good voice at the Queen Elizabeth Hall next Wednesday.
Ten schools are taking part in “Singing in Unity for the Community” — part of a series of events to strengthen links between the schools and promote community cohesion.
For the last six weeks the children have been learning a number of songs with the support of trainers from the national Sing Up initiative, and will be supported by two local bands and a choir.
The concert will raise money for the Royal Oldham Hospital’s Children’s Unit for toys and equipment to make children’s time in hospital more comfortable. A total of £1,000 is already in the kitty.
