INDEPENDENCE DAY: Bangladeshi Association members with the Mayor, Cllr Jim McArdle and Youth Mayor Mohammed Adil.
MEMBERS of the Bangladeshi community celebrated their country’s 39th independence day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at Oldham Civic Centre today.
The ceremony included representatives from the council, Oldham Bangladeshi Association, Oldham Mayor Councillor Jim McArdle and Youth Mayor Mohammed Adil. The independence of Bangladesh was formally declared on March 26, 1971.
