Grateful tenants have praised their caretaker for her efforts after an Oldham tower block was left without water for 27 hours.
Littlemoor House caretaker Angie Worrall stayed behind to help residents, many elderly, fill kettles and buckets when their supply ran dry at 2pm on Tuesday.
One pensioner said: “I was waiting for the Ring and Ride service when I saw Angie and told her there was no water.
“She right away phoned First Choice Homes Oldham, and even though she should have finished, she stayed there until 8pm.
“She bent over backwards for us, and filled kettles and buckets and was really helpful. The workmen also brought us bottled water from Tesco.”
The fault meant there was no water supply in the floors above the fourth floor in the 16 storey building. Both First Choice Homes Oldham, which manages the block, and United Utilities, the water company, tried to find the fault, but it was 5.30pm the following day before the water was back on.
A spokesman for First Choice Homes said: “It is nice when unexpected comments come back to us, and confirms people appreciate what we are doing.”
