Perfect park for picnics

Date published: 30 March 2010

FANS of the great outdoors are being urged to vote for Tandle Hill Country Park as the perfect picnic spot in the country.

The Royton park has made the North-West shortlist of favourite picnic spot in this year’s Warburtons Picnic Awards.

The family baker is hosting the fourth annual awards to mark the 10th anniversary of National Bread Week, which runs from May 3 to 9.

Tandle Hill will compete against 11 other hopefuls to take the regional title, and has a chance to win up to £1,500 towards the park’s upkeep if named as overall UK winner.

Jessica Bowker, competition organiser, said: “The awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate one of the great British traditions — picnicking.

“The UK is bursting with beautiful places and sensational scenery to enjoy, so why not treat the family to a day out at one of our picnic hot spots?”
