THERE was triple joy for rail buffs as a trio of locomotives steamed through Greenfield and Diggle at the weekend.
The Britannia class Oliver Cromwell and the Scots Guardsman teamed up on Saturday to head a special train running from Lancaster to York to raise money for the Help the Heroes campaign.
The Oliver Cromwell, built in Crewe in 1951, and restored two years ago, has not been seen here since the 1960s.
On the same day the Gresley A4 Bittern, passed through Greenfield and Diggle — thought to be its first time in the area — en-route from London Euston to York.
