Armed robber flees prison

A PRISONER who was sentenced to 16 years for robbery and firearms offences in Oldham has gone on the run.

David Patmore (26) absconded from the category D open prison HMP Sudbury, in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, last Thursday.

He was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court in September, 2003, and February, 2004, for robbery, firearms and escape offences.

Patmore was the ringleader of a gang of five armed robbers who committed crimes across Oldham and North Manchester between March 1 and May 15, 2003.

These included a robbery at the Bower Hotel, Chadderton, and an aggravated burglary and robbery at Tulip Close, Chadderton.

During his preliminary hearing in May, 2003, Patmore jumped over the 7ft dock and fled Manchester Minshull Street Court.

He was arrested several weeks later.

In February, 2004, he was sentenced to 16 years in a young offenders’ institution for 27 offences.

He had also been sentenced six months earlier to nine years in prison for an armed robbery of the Going Places travel agency in Middleton.

Patmore’s last known address was in Gill Street, Moston.

He is described as white, 5ft 11ins tall, medium build with short ginger hair, blue eyes and a northern accent.

Greater Manchester Police have been alerted.

Although not believed to be dangerous, members of the public have been asked not to approach him.
