Guitar group hit top note

YOUNG guitarists scooped a bevy of awards at Ramsbottom Music Festival.
Under the tuition of teacher Hazel Davies, the music students from Saddleworth won seven out of nine classes available during the guitar section of the March festival.
The Grade 1 class was won by Anna Russell (10) who took up the guitar in September , while Grade 2 class was won by nine-year-old Ira Wall.
Alex Cockburn (9) took the top spot in the Grade 3 class, and also won the duet competition with fellow student Richard Blythe (10).
Grade 4 class was won by Tamzin Johnson (13), while Sarah Davies (18) won the grade 8 solo guitar.
The Saddleworth Guitar Ensemble under 18’s, which was set up last September, also won their class.
Mrs Davies, from Greenfield, teaches guitar, banjo and ukulele to local students and adults and said: “It was a great festival and the win was unbelievable.”
