Kickz recipe for success

Oldham Athletic in the community:
ATHLETIC striker Lewis Alessandra enjoyed a hearty three-course meal to celebrate the success of a healthy living programme.
Participants on the Oldham Athletic Kickz programme have spent the last eight weeks learning how to cook wholesome and healthy food.
Lewis visited the cooking sessions at the Integrated Care Centre where he sampled garlic ciabbatta, lasagne and a wholemeal pear and apple crumble.
He also told the group about his training routine and which foods he eats when preparing for matches.
The Kickz and Cooks Programme, which is run in partnership with Oldham Community Health Service, teaches participants how to prepare and cook healthy meals.
Apart from the cooking, they are taken on a supermarket tour to learn how much the food they have been preparing costs.
Andy Williams, Kickz head coach, said: “The lads have worked extremely hard over the last eight weeks and it has been a great reward for them to meet an Oldham Athletic first-team player at the end of the sessions.
“This type of alternative activity is a great way of giving the lads new experiences and possibly discovering talents which they didn’t know they had.”
Lewis added: “It was great to meet the lads from Kickz and the food they prepared was brilliant.
“Programmes like this in the community are great to see and it’s great to be able to help out.”
