Mill blaze drama
Date published: 20 April 2010
SWIFT action from 20 firefighters called to Hathershaw’s Borough Mill yesterday stopped a blaze spreading to the main body of the building.
Arsonists set fire to a single-storey annexe attached to the mill, in Neild Street.
Alerted to the blaze shortly after 8pm by a passer-by, firefighters from Oldham, Hollins and Chadderton attended the unoccupied mill.
The fire was confined to the annexe and its contents, which were mainly wooden pallets.
Emergency services were revising the mill’s security arrangements today.
