THE firefighter who headed Britain’s rescue efforts in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake returned to his old school.
Peter Stevenson gave a motivational talk to Year 11 pupils preparing for their GCSEs at Royton and Crompton School.
Mr Stevenson, from Royton, was part of the fire service team which rescued a two-year-old girl from the rubble of the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince in January.
He talked about how he became a firefighter and his career, and added: “I was pleased to be invited to speak at my former school to provide an insight into achievable career goals.
“Too often children have the expectation that success may be easily achieved, especially with the advent of reality television.”
