Verging on the scruffy

A stretch of Broadway could be tidied up following calls for improvements from locals.
Frank Magnall says the bushes on the central reservation between Jardine Way and Whitegate Lane are untidy and boring.
And he was annoyed after seeing recently seeing in the Evening Chronicle pictures of blooming verges because he said he has asked the Highways Agency and Oldham Council for similar treatment, but nothing has been done.
Chadderton South Ward Councillor Dave Hibbert said he has taken up Mr Magnall’s case with the Agency and the council, and the Agency has admitted it the land had been missed by maintenance crews.
A council spokesman added: “This stretch of Broadway is maintained by the Highways Agency.
“However, the council is currently awaiting authorisation from the Agency to work with them and clean up the central reservation.
