Sarah Furbey, the new part-time community development worker for Limeside
A MUM-of-three with a passion for her community has been appointed to her ideal role.
Sarah Furbey (37), from Limeside, is the new part-time community development worker for the Hollins and Avenues estate.
Sarah has been a Contour Homes resident for the past eight years and has been heavily involved in the local community.
She will now be further developing her volunteering skills in her new role working afternoons.
As secretary of Limeside Friends of the Park, Sarah’s hard work was instrumental in the group securing £40,000 of funding from The People’s Millions Lottery Fund last year, securing a safe haven for young children in the park.
Sarah is also founder of the Parents for Play group and used to volunteer every morning at the Avenues and Hollins playgroup, and still sits on the Hollinwood Together Festival steering group.
And she has wasted no time in getting projects off the ground. She said: “We already have plans in place to start the second stage of work on Limeside Park.
“This will hopefully see the addition of a new play area for the children to enjoy.
“I will also be working to provide additional courses at the community hall, including a street dancing course and a slimming club.”
Shanine Meadowcroft, from Contour Homes, said: “She will be the first point of call for the community and as she is already so well-known on the estate that this should be a seamless transition.
“Sarah’s energy and enthusiasm is incredible.
“She is passionate about the local area and determined to provide as many opportunities and facilities as possible for local residents. We look forward to working with her.”
