CARAVANS and a trailer tent worth £40,000 have been stolen from a storage yard in Oldham.
The victims include a woman who bought her vehicle to enjoy holidays with her disabled child.
Police are investigating after eight caravans and one trailer tent were taken from Oldham Caravan Storage UK on Britannia Street.
Officers have established that they disappeared between December 2 and 8 last year, after the owners came forward over a period of time to report them missing. It is not known how they were removed.
A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and has been bailed until May 26 pending further inquiries. Crimestoppers has offered a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Det-Con Andy O’Donnell, from Oldham CID said: “Whoever is responsible for stealing these caravans can only have done so out of sheer malice and to make a quick profit.
“Among the victims is a woman who bought her caravan to enjoy holidays with her disabled child, and this thief has ruined that and the enjoyment of all the other people who have had to endure considerable grief and financial hardship. I would therefore ask anyone who has information to come forward.
“Quite obviously, no thief will be able to hide these caravans so I would ask anyone who if offered caravans matching the descriptions of those stolen other than from a licensed dealer to be vigilant and call police if they have any suspicions.”
The stolen items are: a Lunar 95 Singlax worth £3,500, ABI Marauder (£3,000), Montana Comanche trailer tent (£1,000), Avondale two-berth (£3,250), Sterling Europa (£5,500), Bailey Pageant (£11,000), Swift Eccles (£4,000), Elddis Sprite (£1,000), Avondale Dart (£7,250 ).
People with information are asked to call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8951 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
