Tribute to those killed at work
Date published: 30 April 2010
A MOVING ceremony honoured people who have been killed while at work.
Workers Memorial Day is a trade union campaign to commemorate such tragedies.
UNISON Oldham marked this year’s occasion by laying a wreath at the Memorial Gardens, at the back of Manchester Chambers in Oldham Town Centre, and observing a minute’s silence.
Oldham Council supported the event and sounded a fire alarm to mark the start of the minute’s silence and its end.
Staff were also encouraged to wear a purple ribbon in support.
