A SET of youngsters are flying the flag for Oldham after being picked as the best of the bunch across Greater Manchester.
Oldham Amalfi Badgers were chosen as winners in the first ever Pride of St John Ambulance awards. Badgers are the first aid charity’s youngest group, catering for the five to 11-year-olds, and they made such an impression on judges they have now been held up as an example for all to follow. They beat 12 units to clinch the title.
Badger leader Julie Travis said: “We didn’t know anything about it until it was announced. I am really proud of them.”
The badgers meet at the St John headquarters in Busk Road, Chadderton, on Friday evenings.
