Police will see caller’s history
Date published: 06 May 2010
A NEW call-handling system will allow Greater Manchester Police to automatically see a caller’s details and recent history.
The new system displays the caller’s personal details and recent police contact.
It will make it easier and quicker for call-handlers to identify potential repeat victims or vulnerable people.
Call-handlers have always been able to access details of calls connected to the number the person is using but the new system will instantly show their latest history of police contact, saving time and enabling them to deal with the call more efficiently.
Supt Karan Lee, of the operational communications branch said: “When a call-handler receives a call, it will mean continuing problems are instantly flagged.
“This is one of the most exciting technological leaps we have made in recent years.”
