UNEMPLOYED young people in Oldham are being given the chance to set up in business.
Youth charity The Prince’s Trust wants to help Oldhamers aged between 18 to 30 affected by the recession into successful careers.
Its enterprise programme looks at the realities of setting up on your own with the option to apply to the Trust for a low-interest loan and local business mentor.
The programme will give advice on writing a business plan, marketing, legal issues and tax, while also examining the employment opportunities available locally.
Programme executive Bev Potts, the Trust’s main representative in the Oldham area, said: “If there are young people out there who are unemployed and have a feasible business idea then we want to hear from them.
“This is a great opportunity to get quality help for free and explore your entrepreneurial dreams.” The charity gives practical and financial support, developing key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation. It works with 14 to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.
