LATEST: 11am: Phil Woolas squeaks home by 103 votes in Oldham East and Saddledworth.

Michael Meacher won Oldham West and Royton - swing only -2.9%;  David Heyes back in Ashton, but with a 7.3% swing against him.

After the dramatic recounts in Oldham East and Saddleworth, the local election counts wwere due to start at about 11.30am.

Will Oldham Council's Liberal Democrats survive a year of controversy and criticism? Will Labour's old guard make a comeback? Will Oldham Conservatives ride a wave of national change?
