BULBS have bloomed into a colourful display at a Shaw school — and raised moree than £1,000 for charity.
East Crompton St George’s School united the community with a day of remembrance last October and, among a host of activities, participants planted the bulbs.
Oldham Mayor Councillor Jim McArdle, Mayoress Councillor Kay Knox and Youth Mayor Mohammed Adil returned for a St George’s Day celebration that gave them the chance to see how the flowers had grown.
It also allowed pupils, clad in red and white, to showcase their creative and musical talents in various displays. This was organised by the PTFA in support of its summer gala planned for July.
Also present was Dr Kershaw’s Hospice appeals manager Brian Hurst, who has been presented with the £1,061 proceeds from the planting.
Local garden centres and Oldham Council helped supply and plant the bulbs, including daffodils, tulips and crocuses.
