HEARTLESS robbers ransacked an elderly couple’s Shaw flat as they slept and stole money.
The 83-year-old man woke up when the raiders — who got in through an open window — turned the bedroom light on and started rifling through drawers, but he is almost blind so could not see the offenders.
The light was turned off 15 minutes later and neighbours saw two men running from the flat in Oswald Street at around 9pm on Sunday, April 25.
Both men were wearing dark clothing. One ran into Milnrow Road and the other ran into Crompton Way towards Shaw town centre.
PC Phil Wilson, of Oldham Volume Crime Team, said: “We do not know for sure this couple were targeted because of their vulnerability, but the offenders were confident enough to walk into the bedroom and turn on the lights while they searched.
“If anyone in the local area saw anything suspicious or saw either of the men running from the flat, please get in touch, we need to catch these men.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161-856 1978 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
