League a winner with veteran players

OLDHAM’S Veteran Football League has got off to a flying start as local adults get more active.

Oldham Community Leisure teamed with Oldham Athletic Community Trust to organise the over 35s 5-a-side League at Saddleworth’s synthetic pitch.

Eight teams signed up with Springhead AFC claiming victory at the first cup competition closely followed by Anger Management and Old Ens Athletic.

Jamie Blood, Oldham Athletic Community Trust Football Development Co-ordinator said: “The new league has been a great success with over 60 adults taking part every week.

“This is a great step forward making football easily accessible in the Oldham borough. A big thanks to everyonefor creating a successful league.”
