Festival Oldham coming soon

OLDHAMERS who like to be beside the seaside can pack up their bucket and spade for a weekend of beach-based fun and frolics.
Festival Oldham hits the town centre on May 29 and 30 complete with street shows, music, art and entertainment.
A sandy beach will be set up outside the Spindles on the Saturday where visitors will be dazzled by professional sand sculptors.
Brass bands and donkey rides will complete the maritime adventure outside Tommyfield Market Hall.
Oldham Play Action Group will be helping youngsters make pirate hats and colourful parrots while the Cod Choir provide musical entertainment.
Over at Uppermill Civic Centre from 8pm, music lovers can enjoy International Brass Fest featuring bands from across Europe.
On the Sunday, Mr Wippy and his all-singing ice-cream sellers will be keeping everyone cool while hosting a number of dance classes. There will also be a sandcastle building competition.
An oversized seahorse and giant octopus will parade the streets as Miss Fortune reads palms.
At the Royal George in Greenfield, the Off The Rails Comedy night will keep revellers laughing from 7.30pm with guests Tony Law, Markus Birdman and Alex Boardman.
