Ringway parking is not sky-high

MANCHESTER Airport has been named the cheapest for car parking for holidaymakers.
A survey for Which? Car checked the cost of seven days’ parking at 15 of the UK’s busiest airports and found the cheapest was Purple Parking’s £19.84 Park & Ride option in Manchester.
That compared with £88.70 for Business Parking at Heathrow — earning the London airport the wooden spoon for the most expensive parking space.
It was £35 more expensive than the cheapest spaces at the London airport of £53.95 for an off-airport option.
The consumer champion found that travellers from the UK’s major airports now have more car parking choices than ever, but prices can range from the sublimely low to ridiculously high.
The Manchester Airport Group is publicly owned by the 10 local authorities in Greater Manchester, including Oldham Council.
Airport scanners
Manchester Airport is the first in Europe to replace hand searching with body scanners after a unique agreement with the European Commission.
The scanners, in Terminal 2 only, are on a 12-month trial, replacing the second walk-through metal detector.
