Midnight walk for hospice

WOMEN are wanted to take part in a midnight half marathon walk to raise vital funds for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
The circular walk takes place on Saturday, June 5, and leaves at the strike of 12 from Oldham Athletic’s ground at Boundary Park.
It heads through Royton and Middleton, and makes a halfway stop at BAe Systems, in Greengate, Chadderton, for refreshments.
Last year’s event attracted 150 women, who raised more than £20,000 in sponsorship, and organisers this year want to double that figure.
The £15 entry fee includes a T-shirt, a bacon butty and refreshments, a certificate and a glo-stick to light the way.
There are no prizes for the first over the finishing line. “It’s not a race, it’s a fun walk and we want people to have a good time and enjoy it,” said appeals manager Brian Hurst.
Just over 100 people have so far signed up, and anyone who wants to take part can ring the hospice appeals office on 0161-624 9984 or download an application from from www.drkershawshospice.org.uk
