Crumbling Lake View former residential home has bitten the dust after Oldham Council stepped into demolish it.
The eyesore building opposite Alexandra Park on Kings Road has been empty and decaying for years.
The authority acted after the last known owner was served with enforcement action but failed to take any steps to improve the property.
The home was built in 1970 as a care home for younger adults with physical disabilities, but was sold at auction in 1996, and then changed hands several times.
The work will cost £74,000 in total including asbestos surveys and removal, cutting off services, demolition and landscaping, which the council will attempt to recover from the owner.
