TWO men were attacked and one robbed outside a supermarket in Oldham.
The friends were sitting in the trolley bay at Sainsbury’s, Union Street, when they were approached by two men asking for a cigarette.
When told they couldn’t have one, the men launched an attack on one of the friends and stole his wallet. A third man also joined in the attack.
The victim managed to get away, but the trio attacked his friend before he, too, ran off.
PC Richard Hepworth, based at Oldham Police Station, said: “Both men were left incredibly shaken by this, one has even had a relapse of a recent illness due to the stress.
“These men appeared to use a robbery as an opportunity to attack two men without any kind of provocation.
“They need to be caught and made to face up to their actions, so if you recognise the offenders from the descriptions given or you saw what happened, please get in touch.”
The offenders were described as Asian, aged between 18 and 25 years old. One was around 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with short black hair and a small star tattoo on his face near to his right eye. He was wearing dark clothing.
The second man was around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build with short black hair. He wore a dark woollen sweatshirt with horizontal stripes across the chest. There was no description of the third man.
Anyone with information about the attack, which took place at 1am on Saturday, May 1, should call police on 0161-872 5050 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
