My little hero

Harvey to the rescue

Three-year-old hero Harvey Povah knew just what to do when his mum knocked herself unconscious and lay bleeding from a head wound.

Despite his tender years he stroked her face to bring her round, got a towel to stem the blood, and fetched her mobile phone.

Then he called her parents, and stayed by her side as she lay in the doorway to their home in Kew Road, Failsworth.

Now the little boy has been hailed a superhero with a special certificate which has pride of place in his bedroom. Harvey’s mum Helen, was putting milk bottles outside her front door last week when she cracked her head on the outside mail box and knocked herself out. Helen said: “I was half in and half out of the front door, and I reckon I was unconscious for a good few minutes. My little boy stroked my face, then got me a towel and my mobile phone, and then went through the numbers to call my mum and dad to come and help. I don’t think he realises how good he’s been. We keep telling him he’s a little hero, but he just giggles.

“I’ve got a big lump on the back of my head, had a bad headache for a couple of days and felt dizzy.”

The drama unfolded in the early evening as Helen was at home with her two sons, Harvey, who goes to nursery at South Failsworth School, and seven-year-old Connor, who was playing upstairs.

Her husband Daniel was at the gym, and daughter Bethany (9) was at her grandmother’s.

Helen added: “I don’t know how long I was out for.

“Harvey had been watching telly but he does follow me around, thank goodness.

“Harvey sat talking with me until my mum and dad came round in their car.

“It was a bit of a shock for them, and my dad cleaned the head wound and sorted it out for me.
