New school dominates hillside

Mossley huge new school under construction.
A £22 million new school is taking shape on the outskirts of Mossley.
Mossley Hollins High is being built on the playing fields of the current school, in Huddersfield Road and is due to open to 750 pupils in 2011.
The rebuild was ordered as the current school is on a steep slope — as is the new school, though the hillside has been terraced — and the site is small and restricted.
The development is part of Tameside’s £300 million Building Schools for the Future programme and is the biggest investment in schools since Victorian times.
