AN Uppermill butcher has put his love of bacon, sausages and steak to one side to help launch National Vegetarian Week.
Paul Lowcock, owner of Paul’s Quality Meats in High Street, lent his support to the campaign which encourages meat lovers to give vegetarian food a try.
Paul said: “Many of my customers enjoy vegetarian food as well the full range of quality meats that we sell. We also stock vegetarian cheese. It’s all about taking pleasure in all kinds of food.
“It was good fun to be involved in the launch, but I won’t be turning vegetarian as I’m a committed carnivore.”
Liz O’Neill, head of communications at the Altrincham-based Vegetarian Society, said: “You don’t need to be veggie to enjoy National Vegetarian Week, but you do need to love flavoursome food.”
