A 26-YEAR-OLD Oldham man who carried out three serious attacks in five months has been jailed for three years.

Kadir Hussain, of Pitt Street, Oldham, pleaded guilty to affray, possession of a bladed article, and three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm at a number of previous hearings at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

Ms Virginia Hayton, prosecuting, told the court that Hussain had turned up at a friend’s house in Bolton at 6.15am on April 17 last year.

When his friend’s father, Sikander Iqbal, answered and said his son was not in, Hussain ran his finger down Mr Iqbal’s face from his temple to his chin, telling him he was going to “cut him” and “cut” his son as well before pulling a knife from his pocket.

Mr Iqbal closed the door and Hussain left.

Hussain was arrested and bailed, but two months later went to the home of his former partner and the mother of his child in Princess Street, Ashton.

At the property was her friend Janette Carr with her 11-year-old son.

Ms Hayton said: “The defendant appeared to be drunk and began to get verbally abusive towards Miss Carr shouting at her ‘what are you doing in my house?’”

He unleashed a “torrent of abuse” towards Miss Carr before punching her to the side of her face, knocking her into a television and alcove.

The attack, which was witnessed by her son, left her with a lost tooth, a one-inch gash on her face, two black eyes and swelling to her left cheek.

In her victim impact statement, she said: “I thought he was going to kill me.”

Hussain was again arrested, but went on to carry out a “sustained” attack on his former partner, Saniya Abbas, in August last year.

The court heard that Hussain had drunk two bottles of vodka, and became “more and more aggressive and volatile” to Ms Abbas, slapping her, throwing her on the bed and pulling her earrings out.

He also kicked her, pulled her hair before telling her to stop screaming.

Mr Tom Gilbart, defending, said Hussain recognised the offences were committed because of his drinking and had apologised for the harm caused.
