A CRACKDOWN on drug dealing and anti-social behaviour is taking place this week in a bid to clean up Coldhurst.

Officers from the Oldham West Neighbourhood Policing Team are taking part in the week-long initiative to address residents concerns.

Last week, officers went door to door asking residents what issues were causing them concern.

Police are also working alongside partner agencies, including Oldham Council’s Street Scene officers, to clean up litter and graffiti.

The council’s Trading Standards department is also carrying out test purchases to tackle under-age drinking.

Area police inspector Alan Humphries said: “As part of our commitment to delivering the Policing Pledge, we are listening to residents’ concerns and making sure that we tackle the issues that matter most to our communities.

“Residents have told us that anti-social behaviour, nuisance vehicles and drug-dealing are the main issues affecting their quality of life. So in response we have additional high-visibility patrols in place and we will be executing warrants and targeting known offenders. Patrols will also be targeting suspect and nuisance vehicles.”

The week’s activity is designed to prevent and disrupt criminal activity while improving the environment and offering public reassurance in the Coldhurst neighbourhood.
