Always dry whatever the weather

A new canopy is bringing the love of the outdoors to Crompton Primary School.

The £25,000 structure extends the school hall and is the result of suggestions from the School Council.

With colourful furniture and landscaped surroundings, the canopy provides a covered outdoor area for play, lunchtime eating or lessons in the open air, even when it rains.

It will also provide an area that can be used during wet breaktimes and provide opportunities for extended use such as the parent support group and holiday clubs.

Much of the money was raised through fund raising events by the parent support group such as a “Stars in their Eyes Night” for the children.

Jeanette Sharp, parent and governor at the Longfield Road school, said: “The children love working and learning outdoors. I think the canopy will be used for lots of different activities and will be enjoyed by the whole school, including parents.”
