But Failsworth lads can be proud of incredible run
A DREAM appearance at Wembley ended in disappointment for South Failsworth Primary School as they narrowly missed out lifting the Community Cup.
The all-conquering Year 10 youngsters, who beat 72 other teams from across the North to reach the hallowed turf, were beaten 1-0 by Southern area champions Gateway School, from Buckinghamshire.
South Failsworth skipper Max Davidson was twice denied by the Gateway ’keeper as the southerners held on before Saturday’s League One play-off final between Millwall and Swindon.
More than 14,000 youngsters take part in the Community Cup, organised by the Football League Trust, each season.
Emma-Jane Davies, PE teacher at South Failsworth school, said: “The lads were gutted at the time but they are OK with it now.
“Their coach is very good at picking them back up, he had a chat with them and they are feeling better.”
